Michelle has another new litter! This time we hit the black with collars jackpot – there are three. Another nicely patterned blue mott too! Plus a solid or two. Doe and Spencer have a litter as well. They will be Agouti and Argente.

All of these will have great dispositions. As soon as they know you are in the hamster room they all come out to beg for treats and to be petted. Michelle tries to climb the glass looking for meal worms and Doe and Spencer are at risk of falling out the door of their cage to be petted.

The pet store we work with took 6 weanlings last week. We have had people over to the house the last couple weekends to buy hamsters as well. It’s so much fun to meet other people who like hamsters and are looking for good ones.

This has nothing to do with your ad, but i just got a male panda hamster and my sister got a female hamster. They are about 7-8 months old. Can we still breed them? Please answer this question.
Thank you, Robby

i recently just got into to breeding hamsters, i am expecting my first litter soon from two short haired hamsters. Yesterday i went to the pet store to buy a male dwarf hamster, supposildly its a male but i think i ended up with a female, im not sure but is it easy to tell gender between dwarf hamsters cause i know its easy to tell between syrians. Also how easy is it to be a hamster breeder and do u have to be licensed to do so???

Angelee,

If you are going to breed Campbells you need to get your stock from a reputable breeders. Campbells are prone to diabetes. Some of the larger chain pet stores are selling dwarfs that are running in the range of 25 to 50 percent diabetic. You need to test your breeders regularly. You need to be aware of genetics. Our last breeding stock came from over 400 miles away.

I got Kirby a month ago. He is a fancy hamster. He is a nutmeg color and he is banded. He is also short haired. He has already gotten such an attitude. He is so adorable though. I hve trained him to climb into my hand when he wants to get out of his cage. He is so smart and he is roughly three or four months old. He has gotten so big in one month. He loves running. He has jumped out of my hand twice in all the time I have had him and it is so funny because all four limbs are out to the sides. He looks like he is flying. He has fallen asleep on my chest and in my hand several times a week. It is so adorable. I was wondering…the new water bottle that came with his new cage…he doesn’t seem to use it as much. Is this due to a change or something else? I worry whether or not he is getting enough water…

Christina,

Hamsters generally don’t seem to drink very much. If he is still alive after a month I would be pretty certain he is drinking enough.

You don’t say what kind of hamster he is. If he is a Syrian he cannot be put with any other hamsters – they will fight.
The hamsters that we raise are Campbells. They are a dwarf breed. In the wild they live in colonies so they can live together. They do need to be put together when they are young. We can get an older male and female to pair using a cage swaping technique. We prefer to sell them in same sex pairs for pets. They are happier and more active when they have a friend. For breeding we leave the male with the female and he helps during birth and in raising the pups.

Hope that answers your questions.

no u can not but if they wher 5 or 6 months old u could but if u would like to breed them now it could cause birth problems or increase the chanceof the babies being canniblised
